That spirit is exactly what we’re bringing to life with SUPA JAWN — a special tribute project honoring the legendary Curtis Mayfield.

This June, in celebration of Curtis Mayfield’s birthday (June 3, 1942), we’re putting together a live event as part of our Friday Night JAWN series at REC Philly. The goal? To create an unforgettable night of music, soul, and community built around the timeless energy of one of the most influential voices in music history.

SUPA JAWN isn’t just a cover set — it’s a celebration of soul power, social consciousness, and timeless groove. We're reimagining Mayfield’s iconic tracks with our own Philly flavor, while staying true to the heart of his music: freedom, love, and uplift.

We'll be bringing high energy, deep grooves, and a fresh but respectful take on these classics — honoring the legacy while infusing it with our live band’s unique vibe.

We’re looking to build a powerhouse collective for this event. Whether you're a musician, vocalist, DJ, visual artist, dancer, or just someone who loves Curtis Mayfield and good energy — we’d love to connect.

Specifically, we’re looking for:

• Musicians (horn players, keyboardists, backup singers, percussionists)

• DJs to spin classic soul/funk sets before and after

• Visual artists or photographers to capture and/or decorate the vibe

• Street team support to help promote and build buzz

If you’re passionate about soul, community, and creating something fresh and meaningful — we want you.
